Bio
When I was young, my brother and I used to play this game where we’d pull an imaginary filing cabinet out of our head and choose what we were going to dream about that night. Mine was always space. Didn’t matter if it was another planet, aliens or just floating around in space, that’s what I picked. I grew up to be a lifelong SciFi fan and now, as an artist, I get to inhabit space, aliens and other planets as much as I want. Now, other people can visit them too through my artwork.
The dragons eyes, well they came about because of a dream I had where wizards were stealing them. I woke up very upset and decided to start painting them as a way of ‘saving’ them I guess. The original title of the series was – Save the Dragons but after thinking about it for awhile, I realized that looking into ancient eyes all the time brought a certain kind of peace and maybe wisdom so I changed the title of the series to Dragon Insight.
The dolls that will be coming with me are Munny Dolls – an urban art form using vinyl doll forms to create art. They came about because the Workhouse Arts Center where I have my studio had an event every year featuring a contest painting these dolls. I wanted to see what one looked like with the space stuff all over it. See if that medium could move into 3D. My first year, I painted a set and titled them Major Tom to Ground Control. I sold that first set and have been making them ever since, even branching out into some gaming designs. I have a Major Tom army coming with me as well as a Tetris Dude. 
My journey with visual art was late coming in life but I’m grateful I discovered it was my thing. I’ve always created music and did ‘crafts’ but didn’t realize I was an artist till much later. I guess if I could say anything to people who I may not meet but will read this, while it may sound rote – really, don’t give up on your dreams – EVER. It’s never too late to find what makes you sing.
