Norwescon 43 (2020) Refund or Donation Info

This weekend, we emailed all members who had a membership for Norwescon 43 (2020) that was automatically rolled over to 2021. As already announced, our 2021 convention will be virtual, taking place online from April 1–4, 2021.

Because of the difference in experience between a virtual event and an in-person event, we are offering all members a refund for the difference between the 2021 $35 virtual adult membership price and what they paid for their 2020 Norwescon membership. For example, members who paid $75 for their 2020 membership will receive a $40 refund by the end of 2020.

However, if members would like to donate this difference to Norwescon, we would greatly appreciate it. Norwescon is a 501(c)(3) organization and every dollar we are able to keep will be put to use to provide the best Norwescon experience for everyone and assure our financial future. While we would love to provide the event for free, we incurred costs from our cancelled 2020 event and will be expending more money for the 2021 virtual event. To donate the difference between the price of the regular membership and the virtual membership, we ask that members email business@norwescon.org with their name and the email associated with your membership. PLEASE SEND THESE EMAILS BY NOVEMBER 10, 2020. 

FAQ:

Q. I want to roll-over my membership to 2022. Can I do that?

A. Unfortunately, we are not able to roll-over memberships for another year. 

Q. I don’t want to attend a virtual event. May I have a full refund?

A. We definitely understand that virtual events are not for everyone. If you would like a full refund, please email business@norwescon.org.

Q. I’d like to donate more money. Can I do that?

A. Yes! We happily accept donations. You can donate to Norwescon at any time via PayPal.

Q. What if I do nothing?

A. You will receive the difference between the membership price you paid and the virtual membership price of $35 by no later than December 31, 2020.

Q. Does the $35 virtual rate apply to adults and youth?

A. No, the $35 rate applies to all adult memberships. Youth memberships for the virtual event are $20. Youth and adult memberships are eligible for the refund. There is no charge for children under 13.

Q. How long will it take to receive my refund?

A. Our goal is to process all refunds by the end of 2020. We have never undertaken a task like this so it’s hard to estimate exactly how long this will take. Norwescon is an all-volunteer organization, and we have to work on this while also holding down day jobs and taking care of our families during this time.
